5th Annual Color of Justice Program

The National Association of Women Judges created the Color of Justice program for the purpose of encouraging minority youth “to consider the law and judgeships as career goals.” The Loudoun program on July 25, 2019 was a half-day program run in conjunction with a local camp program, and featured speakers from the legal community, a networking lunch, moot court, and a courthouse tour.

Award of Merit Granted to the Loudoun Chapter

The Virginia State Bar (VSB) has announced its grant of an Award of Merit to the Loudoun Chapter of the VWAA. The Chapter will receive the Award at the VSB's Conference of Local and Specialty Bar Association Annual Meeting and Breakfast on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 7:30 a.m. in Virginia Beach, VA.  Loudoun’s award winning program involved its Legal Aid Clinics. As outlined by the VSB, "The group partnered with Legal Services of Northern Virginia (LSNV) to provide evening clinics on topics suggested by LSNV. The first clinic covered uncontested divorces while the second focused on offers in compromise (debt relief). Volunteers worked with LSNV to provide assistance in the areas of greatest need." Congratulations to all involved!


Tax Relief Debt Clinic

A Free Tax Debt Relief Clinic was held by the Loudoun Chapter on May 21, 2019. Training was provided in advance of the clinic and was approved for 1.5 hours of CLE credit, incluing .5 hours of ethics credit.


Empty Bowls Sales Nets $3K

The Loudoun Chapter of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association’s Empty Bowls sale on April 27, 2019  during Leesburg’s Flower and Garden Festival raised $3,000 to support Loudoun Hunger Relief.  https://loudounnow.com/2019/04/30/empty-bowls-sale-nets-3k/

Ethics of Email and Social Media CLE

The Loudoun Chapter provided a CLE on the Ethics of Email and Social Media presented by Thomas E. Spahn, Esquire on April 25, 2019 at The Community Room in Leesburg, VA.
