On April 7, 2021, the VWAA's Judicial Screening Committee interviewed sixteen candidates for a vacancy on the United States Court of Appeal for the Fourth Circuit occasioned by Judge Barbara Milano Keenan’s decision to take senior status as of August 31, 2021.
